Orangeries

Orangeries from The Kent Conservatory Company

The Kent Conservatory Company has over 30 years experience in the design, build and installation of quality conservatories, orangeries, lanterns, gazebos, lodges and all kinds of glazed extensions. No project is too large or too small and each one is project managed so that you only have one call to make if you need a progress report or perhaps advice on matters connected with your conservatory.

Our skilled and experienced teams of craftsmen also produce and install our full range of products. We work hard to ensure that we always meet the high quality standards expected by all our customers.

THE  ORANGERY

Window and Door Frames

The hand-built custom-designed frames are traditionally styled to elegant proportions from Brazilian Red Cedar  ,Merranti , Sapele  or a similar hardwood from a sustainable source and manufactured  using traditional  joinery methods . The style of joinery  can  be from our standard range  or to your own  design. Heights  and widths will be  tailored  to  give the best possible match  to  existing house  windows  and doors .

Roof   Lantern

The  glazed roof  lantern can  be fabricated  from a powder coated  aluminium patent glazing system  or  hardwood  rafters with an external  powder coated  aluminium capping system .The exterior of  either  roof is designed to be virtually maintenance free and will normally only require periodic cleaning.

Roof, door and window glazing

For standard  use  our  Orangeries  are glazed  throughout  with   24 mm  double glazed units  using toughened glass . Where a property  is  Listed  we can provide  alternative units  which would normally meet  Local Authority requirements .

We  are able to offer  the full range of Pilkington and  Saint-Gobain  glass products  which  offer  properties  such as  improved insulation  , reduced UV  transmission  and self cleaning . Our expertise  will  help  you choose the best product  for  your project .

Ventilation

We can supply manual or automatic opening roof vents together with a wide range  of  sensors  and programmers .

Flat  Roof

The Orangery roof  will incorporate  eco trusses or steel members  which will form a substantial  support for the  Roof Lantern . The flat roof area  around the lantern  can  be covered  with  a range of long life single membranes  or traditional lead sheet  with authentic rolls .
Internally there are a range of finishes available for the  ceiling and  lantern opening .

Furniture and fittings

Our doors  will normally be fitted with  espagnolette shoot bolts giving maximum security against forced entry together with  cabin hooks  and  slide bolts .
Opening  sashes will normally be fitted with  casement stays and  fasteners.

There is a choice of  materials  including  brass and  stainless steel  .

Rainwater goods

Ogee PVC guttering and  round  down pipes  are  fitted as standard  with  powder  coated cast aluminium being  a popular option . Gutters  are hidden as an integral part  of the roof   when  the building is finished with  our  Classic ornate  moulded  facia .

Decoration

The  Orangery  frames will be painted with 2 coats of  high quality Sikkens paint  prior to leaving our works with a third coat being applied on site to give a quality finish .This system requires a minimum of maintenance and being microporous  allows the timber to breath .

A full range of  carefully selected colours  are available .

Guarantee

Our  Orangeries  carry a comprehensive guarantee ranging from  5  to 15 years  depending  on the product . Full details are available on request.

THE BASE

The base foundation will be excavated by hand or small machine 450mm (18") wide and to a maximum depth of 1000mm (39"). The trench will then be almost filled with solid concrete to provide a substantial foundation.

The dwarf wall will be raised off the concrete foundation comprising an outer skin of faced brickwork, 75/100mm wide cavity, and an inner 100mm plastered block work skin .
Variations including  reclaimed  bricks , render or ragstone  are also available .

The floor area will be formed from hard-core blinded with sand and topped with approximately 100mm (4") of solid concrete  followed by a  screed finish  suitable for most types of floor finish, including ceramic tiles, quarry tiles, carpet, etc.

Structurally  our bases  are  always built to Building Regulation  standards  which would be equally suitable for a  full extension  as we believe  a  sound base ensures no future movement  in the  upper structure .

We are continually improving the design and performance of our products . We therefore reserve the right to vary specifications without notice .
