ORANGERIES MAKE A HOME COMPLETE

Orangeries represent the ideal combination of the benefits and looks of conservatories and more conventional extensions. The large proportion of glazing ensures excellent views of their surroundings whilst retaining the solid feeling of a conventional extension. With the roof comprising part flat lead (or polymer) and part glass the internal ceiling becomes an interesting combination of plaster and glazing which can be enhanced by the fitting of down lighters etc. Externally the overall height is less than that of a conventional tiled roof thus avoiding obscured views from upper rooms.

In applications where 'joining' to the existing house is difficult due to upper windows, difficult features or just plain drainage pipes the orangery is ideal particularly in comparison to a pitched/tiled roof. On sensitive listed properties Conservation Officers tend to prefer the box gutter/flat roof connection to a property as it harms less of the fabric of the building being extended.
