THE STABLE

The single storey dwelling  set in a rural location on the edge of a flood zone is of striking appearance both externally and internally  and posed several construction problems to the  contractor  The Kent Conservatory Company.

3 metre deep foundations were required and  its complicated shape when taking into account the buttress walls and plinth details  needed meticulous setting out  to ensure that the large open plan areas where absolutely square and true.
Coursed stone work  framed with red brick surrounds are a feature of the external walls and all were superbly crafted by The Kent Conservatory bricklayers .
Inside  the  beautiful stone and brick walls the construction  is of structural timber frame work  all  produced on site by The Kent Conservatory Company  following their certification  for carrying out the specialist work.
The 200 square metre roof  with its frameless clerestory  glazing  sits on large laminated  timber beams some of which are 3--  x  1--- . The beams where cut  and installed on site by  The Kent Conservatory Company team of  experienced carpenters . Above the timber beams  the roof decking  has been constructed  to include hidden gutters and rainwater outlets .
Externally traditional stone work  has been blended  with red brick work  and timber cladding  all  being  capped with an environmentally friendly  `green` Sedum ` roof . The floor level has been raised  to take account of the nearby flood zone  and an  architectural  plinth course  at floor level  gives the building a real sense of  stature.
Internally the dwelling  has a very large `all in one ` feature dining/kitchen/lounge area with exposed laminated  roof beams. The large glazed areas give wide ranging views and two of the  bedrooms feature  full height sloped  glazing . Beneath  the sloped glazing  of  the master bedroom en suite will be found a large sunken bath where you can bathe whilst watching the stars .
Apart from the  latest  high tech lighting and audio visual benefits that are built in to this property   automatically  controlled under floor heating and  cooling ensure a perfect   living environment .
Use of a  ground source heat pump  and high levels of insulation  will ensure that fuel running costs are kept to a minimum.
